Rep. Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) said he was "stunned and dismayed" by the results of the paternity test.

The Tennessee Congressman who sent eyebrow-raising tweets earlier this year to a bombshell blonde he thought was his long-lost daughter is not actually the woman's father, an explosive new report claims.

Tennessee Democratic Rep. Steve Cohen was discovered to have no relation to the 24-year-old woman he sent tweets to last February, according to a paternity test conducted by CNN.

Cohen had been under the impression that the woman, an aspiring model named Victoria Brink, was his out-of-wedlock daughter.

In a statement Thursday, Cohen said he was "stunned" at the results of the test, which CNN administered with Cohen's participation.

"I was stunned and dismayed at the results. I still love Victoria, hold dear the time I have shared with her and hope to continue to be part of her life," he said

Cohen raised suspicions in February after he tweeted a handful of messages at the woman just before President Obama's State of the Union address.

"Nice to know you were watchin SOTU (state of the union)," he wrote before deleting the message 15 minutes later. "Happy Valentines beautiful girl. Ilu."

"Ilu" is shorthand on social media for "I love you."

But after the messages were spotted, the 64-year-old lawmaker had to quickly explain that the tweets were not flirtatious in nature. Cohen went on to reveal that he had learned within the past three years that the woman was actually his daughter.

Cohen told NBC News that he found out about Brink after researching a woman he was once romantically involved with and discovering that she had given birth to a daughter.

Cohen said he and Brink formed a relationship after he learned of her.

But the DNA test results released Thursday revealed that Brink's true father was in fact, the man who had raised her -- a Texas oilman named John Brink who had been married to her mother from 1985 to 1989. Victoria Brink was born in 1988.

Cohen's February Twitter incident with Brink wasn't the last time the veteran lawmaker was caught using the social media tool recklessly.

He found himself in hot water once again in April after he reportedly tweeted flirtatious comments at pop-singer Cyndi Lauper, before deleting them.
